Orchids and lookouts high
By the limits of the municipalities of Samos and Folgoso do Courel runs high mountain route of great scenic interest, botanical and archaeological.
The route passes through one of the roughest areas of the Sierra do Courel and is based largely on forest tracks, firewall and old ways of traditional use.
The route starts in the place known as Alto da Pedra (a 3,5 kilometers from the village of Paderne and to 12 Seoane do Courel), a haven for plant enthusiasts part of the Rede Galega of microreserves Botanicas.
This area is known for its shallow limestone outcrops, leading to an abundant and unique wildlife, with several varieties of orchids and other species considered, in some cases, as vulnerable in the Galician Catalog of Endangered Species.
